She pleaded to be readmitted to either Form Four or even Form Three, hoping to improve her grades further and attract sponsorship or support from well-wishers willing to help her pursue her dreams.

What did Achieng’ Jovin score in KCSE?

Speaking to NgGossips, the young woman said she attained a mean grade of B Plain with 65 points and received an admission letter to join Egerton University to study Education.

However, she was unable to raise the fees required for admission and eventually lost her university slot last year.

“My classmates have moved on with their studies while I feel stuck. I have been at home doing nothing and watching my dreams slowly fade away. That is why I decided to return to school, even if it means going back to Form Three, as long as someone is willing to help me,” she shared emotionally.

Achieng’, who was the top student in her school in 2024, lives with her grandmother in Kokoth Village, Karachuonyo.

The elderly woman has been unable to meet her financial needs, leaving the young girl battling frustration and hopelessness at home despite her strong academic performance.

She further explained that she had enquired about joining Egerton University while waiting for Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) funding, but was informed that every first-year student must pay fees upfront — something her grandmother could not afford.

What did Alaru Mixed Secondary School Principal say?

Speaking to NgGossips, one of her former secondary school teachers revealed that Achieng’ accumulated a significant fee balance during her time at the school because of persistent financial difficulties.

Touched by her determination and vulnerability, the teachers agreed to waive her outstanding school fees and are now appealing to well-wishers to help her achieve her dream of becoming a teacher.

“When she came to me, I had to advise her because her grades qualify her for university and to pursue her dreams. I see no reason for her to repeat high school. Unfortunately, Form Four candidates have already been registered, so the only available option would be Form Three,” said the Alaru principal.

The principal admitted that it was heartbreaking to see such a bright student’s future hanging in the balance and called upon well-wishers to mobilise resources to help her join university and continue her education.
