The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has reportedly intensified efforts to locate Uche Nnaji, a former minister of innovation, science and technology over allegations of certificate forgery.

According to reports, the anti-graft agency is currently tracking the former minister after he allegedly failed to honour multiple invitations linked to an ongoing investigation into his academic and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) credentials.

Sources familiar with the matter said the ICPC reached out to Nnaji through several communication channels, including phone calls, emails, and WhatsApp messages, but he has not appeared before investigators.

It was gathered that the commission may consider declaring him wanted if he continues to avoid questioning.

The investigation reportedly stems from earlier allegations that the former minister submitted questionable academic and NYSC certificates during his ministerial screening in 2023.

As part of the probe, the ICPC is said to have contacted the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), to verify details surrounding his academic records.

Reports also allege that university authorities confirmed he was admitted but did not complete his studies or obtain the degree certificate attributed to him.

Similarly, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) was said to have disowned the discharge certificate linked to him.

The controversy first gained public attention following investigative reports published in 2023, which questioned the authenticity of his credentials. Nnaji later resigned from his ministerial position after the allegations surfaced.

Neither the former minister nor his spokesperson has publicly responded to the latest developments, as attempts to reach them reportedly proved unsuccessful.

The ICPC has yet to issue an official statement on the current status of the investigation.

The case continues to attract public interest, with calls from civil society groups and legal practitioners for a thorough investigation and possible prosecution if wrongdoing is established.
