The Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has called on residents of Kogi State to take full advantage of the ongoing Permanent Voter’s Card registration and voter information update exercise being conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission ahead of the July 10, 2026, deadline.
In a public awareness message issued in Abuja on Friday, the lawmaker especially appealed to youths and first-time voters to register early and obtain their PVCs, describing the process as crucial to active participation in Nigeria’s democratic system.
She stressed that the voter’s card remains a key tool for citizens to determine leadership and influence development at all levels of government.
She said, “I urge all Kogi State indigenous sons and daughters, especially our youths and first-time voters, to participate actively in the ongoing PVC registration exercise. Your vote remains your voice, and your voice matters in shaping the future of our communities, our state, and our nation.”
Akpoti-Uduaghan further warned against voter exclusion, urging eligible residents to complete their registration or update their details before the exercise closes.
“No responsible citizen should be left out of the electoral process. Those who have attained voting age should register immediately, while those whose voter information requires correction or updating should take advantage of the ongoing exercise before the deadline,” she stated.
The senator also called on traditional rulers, community leaders, youth groups, civil society organisations and other stakeholders to intensify sensitisation efforts to drive higher voter participation across the state.
“I call on families, friends, community associations, and stakeholders across Kogi State to encourage one another to register. Democracy thrives when citizens participate actively. A PVC is not just a card; it is a symbol of your right to determine the future you desire,” she added.
She noted that broader participation in the exercise would strengthen democratic governance and ensure better representation for the Kogi people in future elections.
According to her, sustained civic engagement remains vital to deepening democracy and promoting accountable leadership, urging residents not to wait until the final days before registering.
