Wema Bank has disbursed a total of ₦17.96 million to 273 customers within one month of launching Season 5 of its “5 for 5 Rewards” campaign, underscoring early momentum for its customer engagement initiative.

The campaign, which commenced on May 2, 2026, forms part of the bank’s 81st anniversary celebrations and is designed to promote financial inclusion, customer loyalty, and positive banking habits across key segments, including youth, women, and the mass market.

The season kicked off with an anniversary activation at Ikeja City Mall, where 81 customers received ₦81,000 each, amounting to ₦6.56 million in rewards on the launch day alone. Since then, an additional 192 winners have emerged through daily and monthly draws.

Breakdown of the first month’s rewards shows that in the youth segment, 37 students received ₦4.4 million. This includes 20 beneficiaries of ₦50,000 PocketMoni rewards and 17 university students awarded ₦200,000 each as tuition support.

In the women category, 12 customers received ₦150,000 each under the #SelfCare initiative.

The mass market segment recorded the highest participation, with 120 customers winning daily cash rewards, while 23 others received ₦200,000 each in the monthly draw, bringing the total payout in the category to ₦5.2 million.

Speaking on the development, the bank’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Moruf Oseni, said the initiative reflects the institution’s commitment to rewarding customer loyalty in meaningful and accessible ways.

He noted that the strong response recorded within the first month reinforces the bank’s strategy of linking everyday banking activities with tangible benefits for customers.

Participation in the campaign requires customers to open or reactivate an account, fund it with a minimum of ₦5,000, maintain an average monthly balance of ₦5,000, and complete at least five monthly transactions via the ALAT app, Wema or ALAT cards, or the *945# USSD platform.

Wema Bank disclosed that over ₦170 million has been set aside for rewards between May and December 2026, with thousands more customers expected to benefit as the campaign progresses.

The bank stated that the initiative aligns with its broader goal of promoting financial discipline, enhancing customer experience, and delivering value beyond conventional banking services.
