The Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, is on his way to retiring from the State Legislature, declaring his aspiration for the National Assembly.
Obasa has represented Agege Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly in the past 23 years, spending over 10 years as Speaker, but resolved to aspire for the House of Representatives, to represent Agege Federal Constituency, on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the buildup to the 2027 general elections.
According to Obasa, “…in the presence of party leaders, stakeholders, loyal members, and supporters, I formally declared my intention to contest for the Agege Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives under our great party, the APC.
“After two decades and three years of representing the good people of Agege Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, and serving for over a decade as Speaker, I believe the time has come to begin another chapter in my legislative journey.
This decision was not made lightly. It is driven by a renewed commitment to continue serving our people on a broader platform, while building on the experience, relationships, and dedication that have defined my years in public service.
“I remain profoundly grateful to the people of Agege for the trust, support, and confidence they have consistently reposed in me since 2003.”
Obasa, therefore, urged party faithful and the people of Agege to extend the same support to his successor, Kola Egunjobi, as he aspires to represent Agege Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, as well as Azeez Oladapo Yusuf Ninolowo, for Agege Constituency II.
