A group of stakeholders in Oshodi/Isolo Federal Constituency has called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership to disregard what it described as a “calculated attempt” to manipulate the party’s primary process through divisive narratives.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the call followed a recent statement allegedly circulated by Hon. Okey Onuakalusi, which the group said was intended to defend against accusations of nepotism against the host community. The stakeholders argued that the narrative appeared aimed at stirring emotional sentiment within the constituency.

According to the statement, the development may be a “carefully crafted dummy agenda” designed to create division and make it easier for the incumbent to secure another term in the National Assembly without accounting for his stewardship.

The group claimed that those behind the narrative are aware that Prince Nixon Okwara is widely regarded as a detribalized Nigerian with a reputation for humility, competence, and respect for equity and inclusive representation.

It stated that Okwara’s emergence as the APC candidate would naturally unite the constituency beyond ethnic and sectional lines, a development it said could threaten the political survival of the incumbent.

The stakeholders urged APC leaders and members to “smell the coffee” and avoid falling for propaganda that sacrifices competence and broad acceptability for emotional blackmail.

They described Prince Nixon Okwara as a representative of a new generation of inclusive leadership capable of mobilizing grassroots support across ethnic, religious, and political divides in Oshodi/Isolo.

The statement further argued that Okwara’s candidacy would not only challenge the incumbent politically but could also strengthen APC’s electoral chances across the board, including support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid.

It added that constituents are now more aware and are seeking fairness, unity, accessibility, and effective representation, rather than divisive rhetoric or selective empowerment.

The group concluded that Oshodi/Isolo deserves better leadership and that the time has come for a fresh, inclusive, and people-oriented representative to emerge through the APC primary process.
