In a bid to achieve sustainable development and improve learning conditions of the pupils, the Oba Saheed Elegushi foundation has donated state-of-the-art solar electricity systems and school furniture to Itedo Primary School in Itedo community, Eti-Osa Local Government.

The donation done as part of activities marking the fiftieth birthday of its founder, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi, underscores the foundation’s commitment to empowering communities through innovative solutions and bespoke interventions.

Speaking at a short handover ceremony, Oba Elegushi represented by the Baale of Itedo Community, Chief John Ogunyemi, said “access to stable electricity is vital for fostering a conducive learning and we are delighted to contribute to the future of our children and to support the growth of sustainable energy within our community.”

He emphasised that the solar power will provide reliable clean energy, ensuring that students and teachers can focus on what matters most—education— usually disrupted by inconsistent electricity supply.

The head of communications of the foundation, Temitope Oyefeso, said the solar systems, which includes inverter batteries, is designed to meet the school’s energy needs efficiently, adding that the project not only aims to enhance educational activities but also serves as a model for other seeking eco-friendly energy solutions.

He said the intervention from the foundation is a follow-up of the visitation to the school, where some the challenges confronting the school were highlighted and the response from the foundation is what is being witnessed today with additional donation of furniture and replacement of windows as well as installing fans and light bulbs in all the classrooms and offices.

The Executive Secretary, Eti-Osa Local Government Education Authority, Akilolu Adetola, represented by the Social Mobilization Offkcer, Olalekan Agbaje, thanked the foundation for the intervention, describing it as not only necessary but timely, adding that it will improve the learning environment for the pupils and the productivity of the teachers.

The Headteacher of the school, Margaret Ukachi expressed her gratitude, saying, “the generous donation will significantly improve our ability to deliver quality education to our pupils. It is a remarkable step toward a brighter, more sustainable future for the leaders of tomorrow.”

The Oba Saheed Elegushi Foundation remains dedicated to initiatives that promote education, sustainability, and community development.

With this latest contribution, the foundation reaffirms its commitment to creating lasting impact in Lagos and beyond.
