The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has been urged to extend the five – day training programme on marine engine maintenance, navigation, boat building and safety, which ended in Warri, Delta State on Friday, May 29, 2026.

The training, which was sponsored by the NCDMB, in collaboration with Cosmosparks Engineering Limited, held at the facility of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) in Warri, from Monday, May 25 to Friday, May 29.
One of the facilitators, Mr. Amaechi Ogbonna, appealed to the management of the NCDMB to extend the training for another two weeks.
According to Mr. Ogbonna, there should be additional one week training on boat building and another one week for full navigation.
He thanked the Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Felix Ogbe and other staff of NCDMB, for the sponsorship of the programme, which he said was the first of its kind in Warri area.

Another facilitator, Mr. Charles Lori, who spoke in the same vein, said the extension was necessary, to enable the participants acquire licences that would enable them secure employment and ultimately reduce the manpower shortage in the marine and blue economy.
The Executive Secretary of NCSMB, Felix Ogbe, who was represented by Mr. Kingsley Neyin, charged the participants to put the knowledge gained during the five – day training into productive use.
The NCDMB boss encouraged the trainees to register their trades in the board’s website, in order for their businesses to be captured in the NCDMB’s data base, for further training opportunities.
