Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has charged corps members to exude integrity and credibility while undertaking election duties.

Fubara made the call on Tuesday at the closing ceremony of the 2026 Batch A Stream II orientation course for corps members.

Represented by Rachel Ayasuk-Dandy, the Director of Administration, Office of the Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Fubara urged the corps members to discharge election duties with good conscience and uprightness.

He said at the Orientation Camp in Nonwa-Gbam: “As corps members, your services will be required as the 2027 election draws closer.

“It is your duty to be upright, fearless, and of good conscience.

“Nigerians and the management of the National Youth Service Corps expect you to live up to expectations.

“Do not let us down.”

The governor further told the youths to effectively integrate themselves with members of their host communities by sharing in their values, visions and aspirations.

According to Fubara, such a step will make them relevant and outstanding during their service year.

He assured the corps members of adequate welfare, safety and security during their stay in Rivers State.

Earlier, Moses Oleghe, the NYSC Coordinator in Rivers State, commended corps members for their patriotic spirit and support to national unity and development.

Oleghe said their active participation in camp activities and programmes had enabled them to achieve a successful orientation course.

“See the service year as an opportunity to discover your true purpose in life, acquire relevant skills for self-reliance instead of depending on elusive white-collar jobs,” she said.

The Coordinator thanked the Rivers State Government for its support to the scheme, saying: “We appreciate the recent purchase of mattresses by the state government.”

Oleghe said that a total of 3,596 corps members, comprising 1,297 males and 2,299 females, successfully completed the three-week orientation exercise.
