Media personality Daddy Freeze has shared his thoughts on the passing of actor Alex Ekubo, linking part of his emotional struggles to his highly publicised breakup with his former fiancée, Fancy Acholonu.
In a video posted on his Instagram page, Daddy Freeze recalled a past encounter with the late actor, noting that it was evident Alex was deeply affected by the end of the relationship. He explained that during their conversation, he had advised the actor to speak openly about his side of the story, but Alex reportedly chose to remain silent.
According to him, the breakup and the social media attention that followed took a significant toll on the actor, who preferred to stay out of public drama. He suggested that the online controversy surrounding the split contributed to emotional strain that Alex struggled to recover from.
Daddy Freeze also reflected on how some individuals intentionally walk away from relationships or situations knowing the emotional impact it may have on the other person. He added that Alex never fully returned to his usual state after the incident and eventually withdrew from the spotlight.
He further remarked that the actor’s passing, which he linked to cancer, came after what he described as a period of emotional exhaustion and reduced strength to keep fighting.
“After Alex and his ex broke up, he was at my house one day, and you would see that the breakup really affected him. I remember telling him to tell the world his side of the story, but he refused. He never recovered from that scandal. Alex was someone who always minded his business. His ex didn’t try at all. Let us tell ourselves the truth. It was at the point of that breakup that Alex started going down
He never rose again after that scandal until he finally disappeared. Some people will deliberately leave you because they know it will break you. The breakup broke Alex. He died of cancer; he had no strength left to fight. He was not in the right frame of mind”.
