A fresh war of words has broken out between the Presidency and Peter Obi, the former Anambra Governor and Labour Party leader.
Presidential aide Bayo Onanuga has strongly criticised Obi, saying Nigerians should not believe his promise to serve only one term if elected president.
“If you believe Peter Obi will only do one term, then you can believe anything. His words cannot be trusted,” Onanuga declared.
The comment has sparked fresh debate as 2027 elections approach. Many recall that Obi had earlier said he would do only one term in office to fix Nigeria and hand over to a new generation. But Onanuga insists the promise is not believable.
This is not the first time the two sides have clashed. Supporters of President Bola Tinubu have continued to paint Obi as someone who cannot be trusted with power.
