Lagos lawmaker and veteran actor, Desmond Elliot, has publicly sought forgiveness from Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, over a recent misunderstanding between the two political figures.

During a televised interview with TVC, the representative of Surulere Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly expressed deep regret for any actions or words that might have been perceived as a slight against his political mentor.

Looking visibly contrite during the broadcast, the lawmaker directly addressed the former Speaker of the House of Representatives with a plea for reconciliation, stating, “I’m sorry, Daddy, if I offended you in any way.”

The public apology comes amid speculations of a growing rift within the political structure of Surulere, which both men represent at different levels of government.

Elliot, who has consistently viewed Gbajabiamila as a father figure and benefactor in his political journey, noted that it was never his intention to show disrespect or undermine the authority of the Chief of Staff.

He emphasized the importance of maintaining the unity of their political family, especially given the high-stakes nature of governance in Lagos State and the country at large.

While he did not specify the exact incident that led to the friction, the lawmaker made it clear that he values the mentorship and guidance he has received from Gbajabiamila over the years.

Recall that Politics Nigeria earlier reported that Gbajabiamila revealed President Bola Tinubu had considered relieving him of his duties as Chief of Staff.

This development was reportedly linked to allegations involving Desmond Elliot’s perceived role in a plot to impeach the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa.

The fallout from those allegations had cast a shadow over Elliot’s political future, leading to this latest public effort to make amends and restore his relationship with the Chief of Staff.
