He said the country should be concentrating on issues such as insecurity, poor electricity supply and failures in governance rather than arguments over regional power rotation.………
Speaking during an interview on Tuesday, Momodu stated that political conversations across the country had gradually moved away from matters affecting the welfare of ordinary citizens.
He noted that discussions were now dominated by arguments over which region should produce the next president instead of addressing economic hardship and insecurity.
Momodu alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress was intentionally promoting the zoning conversation because it believes regional politics would remain a major factor in determining victory during the 2027 presidential election.
According to him, the emphasis on zoning had pushed aside serious conversations about governance, development and national progress.
The publisher and politician also accused President Bola Tinubu of worsening divisions along ethnic and regional lines.
He claimed that Nigerians were increasingly being compelled to interpret political matters based on tribe and region rather than focusing on competence and national interest.
Speaking further on opposition politics ahead of the next election cycle, Momodu maintained that elections are won through political calculations, structures and voter strength rather than emotions or popularity on social media.
He warned against assumptions that any possible alliance involving Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso would automatically lead to the defeat of the APC in 2027.
Momodu also defended former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for remaining in the presidential race, insisting that no individual had the authority to compel him to step down in favour of another aspirant.
