On the evening of Monday, May 18, Kaunda talked over the CS, warning that the strike had not ended as Wandanyi had implied in his presser.

Speaking on Spice FM, Kaunda alleged that unknown individuals confronted him shortly after that viral moment.

He said the incident occurred when he was allegedly trailed by people riding on a motorbike.

Speaking about the encounter, Kaunda said the individuals issued a chilling warning, telling him, “We mzee, tumekuona,” words he interpreted as an attempt to intimidate him over his stance during the negotiations.

“Some people even told me that I broke protocol. However, others are commending me,” he said.

The EATGDA boss noted that the incident happened only hours after he publicly dismissed claims that he had received a “brown envelope” to influence the suspension of the strike.

Kaunda maintained that the decision to suspend the strike was reached through consultations aimed at preventing further disruption to transport operations and protecting livelihoods dependent on the sector.

However, he now says the threats have left him fearing for his safety and uncertain about his movements. His remarks have sparked fresh debate online, with some Kenyans calling for investigations into the alleged intimidation and demanding increased security for leaders involved in negotiations affecting the public transport sector.

As earlier reported, Kaunda also disclosed that he received calls from people accusing him of embarrassing government officials, leaving him shaken and unable to sleep.

Despite admitting that he is scared, Kaunda said he would not back down, adding that Kenya remains his country and he has no intention of hiding.
