Former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, has submitted his governorship nomination and expression of interest forms at the national secretariat of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Abuja.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the office of the former minister of justice said the submission was completed in compliance with the party’s guidelines.

The statement said the development had generated excitement in Kebbi State, with supporters describing it as the beginning of a political “rescue mission” in the state.

According to the statement, Malami is contesting the governorship election on the strength of his experience in national governance.

The statement said the former Attorney-General intends to focus on security, agriculture, infrastructure, education, and healthcare if elected.

It described the ADC as a growing political platform founded on accountability, inclusion, and development.

The statement also criticised the current situation in Kebbi, alleging rising insecurity, economic hardship, failing public schools, and poor healthcare services.

It added that Malami had commenced consultations across the local government areas of the state ahead of the election.

“The people of Kebbi are no longer waiting for relief that never comes; the rescue has officially begun,” the statement said.
