According to a report by the Daily Trust News on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, Ado Haladu Yankamaye, former vice chairman of Tsanyawa Local Government Council, has revealed that bandits stormed the Yankamaye community and only God saved them. He added that most victims were killed while trying to escape, but no one was kidnapped.………

In his words, he said, “It was God that saved us. Most of the victims were killed while trying to run away. They didn’t kidnap anyone.”

It was reported that about 30 bandits stormed the community towards the evening with their motorcycles. It was said that the bandits came in through a nearby community, the Rimaye community in Katsina State, shooting heavily.

Ado Haladu Yankamaye said all those killed were men, including some who had up to 10 children. The only exception was one young man who was not yet married. The bandits arrived on motorcycles, split into groups across different parts of the town, and fired shots randomly.
