Popular Nigerian singer and songwriter Mr Eazi, born Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade, has sparked conversations online after opening up about his family background and his father’s remarkable career as a pilot.………
Speaking during a recent interview, the “Leg Over” crooner dismissed assumptions that he came from a poor background, revealing that his father was a retired military pilot who later worked with some of Nigeria’s most influential figures.
According to the singer, his father worked as a pilot for billionaire businessman Mike Adenuga, founder of Globacom and Conoil PLC. Mr Eazi disclosed that his father often flew Adenuga to his oil rigs across Nigeria using the billionaire’s helicopter.
The singer said he experienced that lifestyle firsthand while growing up and attending school in Ota, Ogun State.
Mr Eazi, who lost his mother in March 2025, further revealed that his father also served as a pilot to former Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo for eight years.
Recalling his childhood encounters with Obasanjo, the singer said he had easy access to the former president because of his father’s role. He added that Obasanjo would often gift him chicken and large fish whenever he was returning to school.
Mr Eazi, however, jokingly admitted that as a young boy at the time, he wished the former president had simply given him money instead.
The singer explained that watching his father travel across the world as a pilot transporting influential people had a major impact on him growing up, adding that it shaped his deep love for freedom.
The revelation has since generated reactions online, with many fans expressing surprise at the singer’s privileged upbringing and family connections.
