Obi’s One-Term: What The North Want Isn’t Placeholder Arrangements, But Genuine Leadership – Analyst

Murtala Abubakar, a renowned political analyst and northern youth leader has disclosed what the region needed in response to the single term proposal of the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

According to his statements which were made available to the general public by VANGUARD on Sunday May 17th, 2026 he pointed out that all they needed was genuine leadership.

The former Anambra State governor, it can be recalled, had caused a stir after he made it known that he was only interested in serving a single term as president if given the opportunity.

However, Murtala Abubakar in his statements, argued that the promise was a mere political gimmick aimed at gaining sympathy from the northern region.

He maintained that the region was not interested in temporal placeholder arrangements, but a genuine leadership that cares for the people.

He further maintained that justice, fairness and equity must be found in the leader who intends to seek support from the region.

The northern youth leader also maintained that commitment to power rotation was paramount, urging those who seek support from the region not to neglect the laid down procedures.
