Onyedika set for Club Brugge summer exit

Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika is increasingly likely to leave Club Brugge this summer after deciding against signing a new contract with the Belgian champions, NGGOSSIPS Sports Extra reports.

The 25-year-old still has two years remaining on his current deal, which runs until June 2027, but talks about an extension have stalled, according to Voetbal24, with the Nigerian making clear he is ready for a new challenge elsewhere in Europe.

Aston Villa and West Ham United are understood to be monitoring developments closely as they prepare for the summer window, with Everton also linked. Villa and West Ham are currently considered better financially placed to complete a deal.

Onyedika joined Club Brugge from Danish side FC Midtjylland in 2022 and has grown into one of the most important players in the Belgian top flight, with his aggressive pressing, ball-winning and composure in possession earning him recognition across the continent.

His performances for the Super Eagles at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations further convinced observers that he is ready for one of Europe’s top-five leagues.

German side VfL Wolfsburg reportedly failed with a €20m offer during the winter window, while Turkish champions Galatasaray have maintained a long-standing interest.

Club Brugge had previously valued the midfielder between €25m and €40m, but with Onyedika unwilling to renew his contract, reports in Belgium suggest the club may now accept offers closer to €20m to avoid losing bargaining power as his deal winds down.

Despite the transfer speculation, Onyedika remains part of Brugge’s title push. The club lead the Belgian Pro League by a point from Union SG heading into their top-of-the-table clash on Sunday, and a victory would leave them a single win away from the championship they last claimed in 2024.
