On Tuesday, May 12, 2026, a report by Daily Post highlighted that Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the former Governor of Kano State, mentioned that his daughter recommended he collaborate with Peter Obi, the former Labour Party presidential candidate, during the general elections held in 2023.………

Kwankwaso shared this information during a Monday interview on ARISE News where he addressed political changes in Nigeria and the evolving perspectives of young voters on governance and leadership.

He indicated that his daughter’s recommendation illustrated the increasing political consciousness among the youth in Nigeria and their aspiration for leaders who can advance the nation.

Kwankwaso pointed out that a growing number of young Nigerians are showing less interest in politics driven by ethnic or religious affiliations.

He stated that the younger demographic is becoming more concerned with issues linked to governance, accountability, economic growth, and overall national progress.

As per his remarks, the younger electorate now focuses more on leaders’ problem-solving capabilities that impact common citizens instead of primarily prioritizing ethnic or religious considerations.

He mentioned that this transformation in political attitudes has been noticeable in the latest elections, particularly with the rising participation of young people in political conversations both on social media and in person.

The former governor observed that the political inclinations of younger Nigerians often contrast with those of the older generations.

He elaborated that many of the senior politicians continue to depend on conventional political divisions, whereas the youth are starting to assess leaders based on their effectiveness and skills.
