David Ibiyeomie, founder and senior pastor of Salvation Ministries International, has encouraged Christians to maintain confidence and self-respect regardless of their financial situation. Speaking during a recent sermon shared on YouTube, the cleric warned believers against portraying themselves as desperate or constantly in need, stressing that such attitudes often lead to disrespect from others.
According to Ibiyeomie, personal conduct, appearance, and body language can significantly influence how individuals are perceived and treated in society. He advised worshippers to avoid looking defeated or hopeless, even during periods of financial hardship.
“Don’t ever appear needy in life,” the pastor said during the sermon. “Anywhere you go, don’t appear beggy otherwise they will just despise you.”
The preacher emphasized that difficult moments should not rob individuals of their dignity or confidence. He explained that many people unknowingly communicate weakness through the way they dress, speak, or carry themselves, which can cause others to look down on them.
“Even if you don’t have food, carry yourself,” he repeatedly stated while encouraging believers to remain composed and hopeful during challenging times.
Reflecting on his early years in ministry, Ibiyeomie revealed that he once owned only a single coat. Despite his limited possessions at the time, he maintained that he never allowed his circumstances to define how he presented himself before others, especially within the church.
“From one suit, I’ve never looked beggy,” he stated. “Even when I had one coat, I don’t come to church looking beggy.”
The pastor further explained that many people lose valuable opportunities because they consistently present themselves as victims rather than individuals with confidence and expectation. He urged Christians to develop a positive mindset and avoid appearing gloomy or discouraged despite economic realities.
Ibiyeomie also linked his message to faith and positive confession, noting that believers should reflect hope instead of despair. He encouraged worshippers to remain bold and optimistic, insisting that temporary financial struggles should never destroy personal dignity or self-worth.
Throughout the sermon, he repeatedly reminded his audience to “Carry yourself,” while emphasizing the importance of maintaining confidence in every season of life.
