Yoruba Nation activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has revealed fresh details about how some people tried to take over his properties while he was in exile. In a new video making rounds on social media, Igboho said a man who leased his filling stations moved quickly to claim full control of the assets.………
According to Igboho, the lessee saw his long absence as an opportunity. “They wanted me gone forever, so they shared my property,” he said. He returned from exile in January 2026 to find that ownership battles had already started over his filling stations and other assets, mainly in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Igboho, who fled Nigeria in July 2021 after a DSS raid on his Soka residence in Ibadan, spent several years in Benin Republic. He returned earlier this year after his name was removed from the watch list, thanks to interventions by Yoruba leaders and the Olubadan of Ibadanland. But coming back has brought new headaches as he now fights to reclaim what belongs to him.
The viral video, which surfaced on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, has sparked strong reactions across Nigeria. Many Yoruba supporters expressed anger. One user wrote, “This is betrayal! While Igboho was fighting for us in exile, some greedy people were sharing his sweat. God will judge them.” Another commented, “Lease no be ownership. The man try cheat am. Igboho, take back wetin be yours!”
Some doubted the story, with one person saying, “Caps too much. Make Igboho show documents.” But many called for justice: “Property owners must be protected. This kind thing dey happen too much when person travel.”
