The founder and senior pastor of Omega Fire Ministries International, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has explained the difference between the kingdom of God and the kingdom of heaven, stating that the two biblical concepts are often misunderstood and wrongly used interchangeably by many Christians.………
Suleman made the clarification during a recent sermon shared on YouTube while teaching on salvation, God’s kingdom, and spiritual understanding.
Quoting John 3:3 and John 3:5, the cleric emphasized Jesus Christ’s teaching on being born again. “Except a man is born again, he shall not see the kingdom of God,” he quoted, adding that God desires believers to become partakers of His kingdom.
According to Suleman, Jesus’ earthly ministry focused heavily on restoring mankind back to God’s kingdom, but many believers fail to fully understand the depth of that message because of language and translation limitations in scripture interpretation.
The preacher explained that the Bible was originally written in Hebrew and Greek before being translated into English, making deeper study important for proper understanding. He noted that the Greek word for kingdom is “Basilia,” while the word for king is “Basilios.”
According to him, the concept of kingdom simply means “the king in his domain.” Suleman said understanding this meaning helps believers grasp how God intends His authority and nature to operate within the lives of Christians.
Speaking further, the cleric stated, “The kingdom of God is different from the kingdom of heaven. Sometimes we think they are used interchangeably. No.”
He explained that the kingdom of God refers to a spiritual state and realm where God rules within a believer, while the kingdom of heaven refers to a future destination.
Referencing Luke 17:21, he reminded listeners that Jesus said the kingdom of God is within believers rather than tied to a physical location.
Suleman also cited Romans 14:17, which says, “For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink, but righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.” According to him, when God reigns in a person’s life, righteousness, peace, and joy naturally become visible.
