Chief Anabs Sara-Igbe has defended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara amid the ongoing political crisis involving the governor and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.………
Speaking during an interview on SYMFONI TV, Sara-Igbe said the major concern many Rivers people have with Fubara is his calm and peaceful approach to politics, despite the pressure and attacks from his opponents.
According to him, during the peak of the political crisis in Rivers State, Fubara had opportunities to take stronger actions against lawmakers loyal to Wike but chose not to. He said the governor continued to pursue peace instead of confrontation.
Sara-Igbe also alleged that Fubara had remained loyal to Wike for years, even before becoming governor, and claimed the governor has refused to investigate or probe the former Rivers governor despite the political disagreements between them.
He accused Wike of weakening the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State and pushing many political figures out of the party. He further claimed that efforts were being made to force Fubara into the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Sara-Igbe maintained that Fubara remains popular among many Rivers residents because of what he described as the governor’s performance and grassroots support.
He added that Rivers’ people want Fubara to become more decisive and openly defend his political position without fear.
In his words, “The problem we have with Sim is to stand firm and say this is what I want. That’s the problem Rivers people have with him. In terms of performance, we’re happy with him.”
