The visit, described by some as a state-visit plus, has seen the Chinese government pull out all the stops to welcome the American leader, including a rare and symbolic tour of the Temple of Heaven, a UNESCO World Heritage site that served as the ritual center for Ming and Qing dynasty emperors.………
During his monologue on Jesse Watters Primetime, Fox News host Jesse Watters highlighted the immense historical weight of the visit, noting that Trump is walking where very few Western leaders have ever been permitted.
“Beijing is drenched in pageantry for the Trump trip,” Watters remarked. “He’s the first president in 50 years to walk through the Temple of Heaven. Ford was the last one in.”
The Temple of Heaven, specifically the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, was built in the early 1400s. For centuries, it was considered sacred ground where the Son of Heaven (the Emperor) would perform solemn rites to ensure the prosperity of the empire.
Watters emphasized the exclusivity of the location, drawing a parallel between the ancient Chinese rulers and the current reception of the U.S. President.
“The Confucian temple built in the 1400s during the Ming Dynasty, only the emperor was allowed to step inside. It’s where he prayed for good weather,” Watters said.
In a moment of characteristic wit, Watters joked about the President’s apparent influence over the elements during the diplomatic mission:
“Trump, he Protestant, went inside and made it rain. More on that later.”
