The Nasarawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has urged aggrieved aspirants in the party’s primary elections in Doma South State constituency to accept the outcome and try again in future contests.

The party’s Publicity Secretary, Augustine Ogaba, said the State House of Assembly primaries were peacefully conducted in the constituency, leading to the emergence of the party’s candidate, Musa Ibrahim.

Our correspondent on Saturday had reached out to get Ogaba’s reaction after a female aspirant, Ebu Onyawoyi-Beauty, rejected the results and exercise, citing irregularities among others.

Meanwhile, he appealed to Onyawoyi-Beauty and other aspirants who did not scale through the exercise to accept the result, stressing that the party remains a united family ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Nasarawa State House of Assembly APC aspirant for Doma South Constituency, Ebu Onyawoyi-Beauty.

“I want to use this opportunity to appeal to her and the other aspirants to accept the outcome of the primaries.

“As a party, we are all members of one family, so we should stand by each other and ensure that the party is more strengthened ahead of the 2027 general elections,” he said.

Ogaba maintained that the APC constitution provides for only one candidate to emerge per constituency for a four-year term.

However, Onyawoyi-Beauty, a female aspirant for the Doma South State constituency seat, earlier rejected the outcome of the primaries, alleging irregularities and manipulation in the process.

Speaking with journalists in Lafia on Saturday, she alleged that the election was not conducted in the four electoral wards of the constituency, but that results were fabricated and the incumbent lawmaker declared winner.

She said she participated in the primaries expecting a free and fair process, but insisted that election materials were not deployed to the constituency.

Onyawoyi-Beauty called on the party leadership, including the APC state and national chairmen, the state governor, Abdullahi Sule, and President Bola Tinubu, to intervene and review the process.

“I am calling on the executive governor of Nasarawa State… to intervene in this matter. I am also calling on the national chairman of our great party, the APC, and the state chairman to cancel whatever fake results are being presented,” she said.

She further demanded the cancellation of the results and the conduct of a fresh, free, fair and credible primary election in the constituency, insisting that such a process should be closely monitored by party leaders and security agencies.

“My demand is that a fresh, free, fair, and credible primary election should be conducted… so that the popular candidate of the people can emerge,” she said.

She also claimed she had made significant impacts in the constituency through employment facilitation and empowerment programmes for women and youths.

Meanwhile, the Returning Officer for the APC primary election in the constituency, Musa Abubakar-Imam, announced Musa Ibrahim as the winner of the exercise.

He said Ibrahim polled 4,253 votes to defeat Onyawoyi-Beauty, who scored 275 votes, Bartholomew Ochekpe, who polled 368 votes, and Bello Akunza, who scored 642 votes.
