Two leading senatorial aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State, Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah and Sani M. Kabiru, have withdrawn from the party’s primary elections scheduled for May 18, 2026.

Na’Allah, a former representative of Kebbi South Senatorial District, announced his withdrawal in a letter dated May 17 and addressed to the APC state chairman in Birnin Kebbi.

The former lawmaker said his decision followed consultations and information available to him concerning the disposition of the party ahead of the primaries.

He said: “After careful consultations and credible information available to me regarding the disposition of the party toward the forthcoming primary election, I have decided to withdraw from the contest.”

Na’Allah added that he chose to step aside in the interest of unity within the party despite years of commitment to the APC as a founding member.

He said: “I have dedicated over 14 years to building and strengthening this party.

“My decision is borne out of respect for the unity, peace, and progress of the APC.”

The former senator also thanked his supporters and constituents for backing his aspiration, including those who contributed financially toward the purchase of his nomination form.

Na’Allah said: “I remain grateful to my supporters and the good people of Kebbi South for their trust, encouragement, and sacrifices throughout this journey.”

Similarly, Sani M. Kabiru, popularly known as Kabiru Sani Giant, withdrew from the race for the Kebbi Central Senatorial District ticket.

In his withdrawal letter dated May 16, Kabiru said his decision was based on personal, political and strategic considerations.

He said: “I sincerely appreciate the overwhelming support and solidarity shown to me by party stakeholders, supporters, and members of my campaign team.”

Kabiru reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC and pledged continued support for the party ahead of future elections.

He said: “My commitment to the APC remains unwavering, and I will continue to work for the success and stability of our great party.”

The withdrawals come amid political realignments and internal manoeuvring within the APC in Kebbi State ahead of the senatorial primaries.
