Vihiga – A family from Iduku Village in Wamuluma Lugaga Ward is living in fear and uncertainty after their teenage daughter vanished under heartbreaking circumstances on the evening of Thursday, May 14.

Hilda Kendi, a Form Three student at Goibei Girls High School, reportedly disappeared at around 7:30 pm after returning home following a suspension from school over an alleged indiscipline case.
Hilda’s chilling message
According to her mother, Hilda had arrived home earlier in the day from school. However, later that evening, when her mother questioned her about the suspension, the teenager quietly walked out of the house.

Moments later, when her mother stepped outside to follow her, Hilda was nowhere to be seen.
The family’s panic deepened after her mother returned to Hilda’s bedroom and reportedly discovered a handwritten note containing the chilling words:
“Mtanipata kwa majani kame nimekufa,” loosely translated as “You will find me dead in the dry grass.”
The emotional message left the family devastated and fearing for the safety of their daughter. Since then, relatives, neighbours, and residents have joined efforts to search for the missing schoolgirl, but several days later, there has been no trace of her.
Hilda’s case reported at Mbale Police Station
The matter has since been reported at Mbale Police Station as a missing person case, with the family appealing to members of the public to help them find Hilda.
Her disappearance has sparked concern among residents, with many expressing sympathy for the distraught family.
They urged parents and guardians to create safe spaces for young people facing emotional distress and academic challenges.

Inoro Girls student disappears
In a similar story, a family in Nanyuki, Laikipia county, is appealing for help to find their missing 16-year-old daughter named Beyonce Apiyo.
The Form Three student at Inooro Girls Secondary School reportedly went missing on April 18 at around 6 pm and has not been seen since.
