Hilda Kendi, a Form Three student at Goibei Girls High School, reportedly disappeared at around 7:30 pm after returning home following a suspension from school over an alleged indiscipline case.

Hilda’s chilling message

According to her mother, Hilda had arrived home earlier in the day from school. However, later that evening, when her mother questioned her about the suspension, the teenager quietly walked out of the house.

Moments later, when her mother stepped outside to follow her, Hilda was nowhere to be seen.

The family’s panic deepened after her mother returned to Hilda’s bedroom and reportedly discovered a handwritten note containing the chilling words:

“Mtanipata kwa majani kame nimekufa,” loosely translated as “You will find me dead in the dry grass.”

The emotional message left the family devastated and fearing for the safety of their daughter. Since then, relatives, neighbours, and residents have joined efforts to search for the missing schoolgirl, but several days later, there has been no trace of her.

Hilda’s case reported at Mbale Police Station

The matter has since been reported at Mbale Police Station as a missing person case, with the family appealing to members of the public to help them find Hilda.

Her disappearance has sparked concern among residents, with many expressing sympathy for the distraught family.

They urged parents and guardians to create safe spaces for young people facing emotional distress and academic challenges.

Social media reactions

Nelly Ondisa:

“May she be found safe. Aki siku hizi tusilaumu wazazi, kuna wale hujaribu kulea watoto vizuri, mtoto hufika tu pahali na kufanya what she thinks is best for her or him. Let’s just pray for our kids.”

Leah Engesha

“Hilda atapatikana. Tuombe tu Mungu awe ameenda kwa boyfriend, bora arudi akiwa salama awache kutisha wazazi.”

Henry Butichi

“The school should have called the parent instead of sending her home a lone. Some teachers are unprofessional when it comes to handling matters of disciplinary proceedings.”

Favor Angel Sainah

“But wangeita mzazi kwanza wamuelezee Hilda akiwa hapo halafu wapatie mzazi mtoto wake na hiyo suspension letter.”
