A video lasting about four minutes, which has gone viral, shows a Nigerian content creator known as MC Okrika confronting police officers at an unofficial checkpoint in Ikom.

In the footage, he accuses the officers of extorting 150,000 naira from a motorcyclist who is a farmer, and also draws attention to one of the officers apparently holding small brown packets suspected to be an illegal substance.

The officers, dressed in black uniforms, react defensively to being filmed one attempts to conceal his face while another challenges MC Okrika’s right to record them.

Throughout the confrontation, Okrika insists the money taken from the farmer be returned.

MC Okrika is a familiar figure in the area, known for using comedy and activism to speak out against corruption, and is affiliated with a local movement called Ratel.

His willingness to directly challenge the officers has earned him widespread admiration, with many viewers praising him for shedding light on the everyday reality of bribery at police checkpoints. As of the time of reporting, the Cross River State Police Command had yet to issue any response to the incident.
