Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation and the All Progressives Congress’ consensus governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Adeola, has promised to sustain the tradition of peaceful and consensual transition of administrations in the state.

Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, made the pledge on Thursday while speaking at the APC Ogun Central Senatorial District Stakeholders and Strategic Meeting presided over by Governor Dapo Abiodun and the state party chairman, Yemi Sanusi.

Abiodun, during the meeting, again presented the senator to party stakeholders and leaders in Ogun Central as the party’s consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 election.

The senator thanked the governor for what he described as his laudable contributions to the socio-economic and political development of the state, adding that “when elected by the grace of God as the governor of our dear state, I will not only sustain and build upon the achievements, but further ensure rancour-free political interaction in the state.”

“I am very conscious of the honour done to me with my historic emergence as the consensus candidate of the ruling party in our dear state. I will not take it for granted and will work assiduously to sustain it in the years ahead,” he stated.

The senator noted that his first endorsement as the consensus candidate occurred in Ogun Central by all APC leaders and caucuses in the state, stressing that it was gratifying that another affirmation took place in the district of his maternal origin.

He further pledged to embark on a thank-you tour of all 74 wards in Ogun Central after the party’s primary.

Earlier, the governor recounted the statewide endorsement of Adeola as the APC consensus candidate and his subsequent unveiling in Ogun East and Ogun West, adding that Ogun Central was taking its turn in affirming the party’s consensus candidate ahead of the election.

The governor also used the occasion to present the consensus senatorial candidate for Ogun Central, the incumbent Senator Shuiab Afolabi Salisu, whom he described as a loyal and hardworking party member.

Abiodun called on party faithful and indigenes of Ogun State to support President Bola Tinubu for what he described as his support for Ogun State and reform agenda, adding that the policies and achievements of his administration in the last seven years had made Ogun State the fastest-growing economy among Nigeria’s states.

Dignitaries at the event included the Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele; former Deputy Governor, Prince Segun Adesegun; Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Daisi Elemide; Hon. Olumide Osoba; and the Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Hon. Kunle Isiaka.

Others were former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Titi Oseni-Shodunke; former Speakers of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Tunji Egbetokun and Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo; Federal Commissioner, Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Hon. Akeem Amosun; and the Director-General of the National Sports Commission, Hon. Bukola Olopade.
