  • Apostle Johnson Suleman defends Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.
  • Suleman addresses criticism regarding Adeboye’s involvement in a past nationwide prayer walk.
  • He denies allegations that Adeboye participated in political protests during the administrations of former President Goodluck Jonathan and President Bola Tinubu.

Apostle Johnson Suleman has come to the defense of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, amid ongoing criticism over his participation in a past nationwide prayer walk, while also speaking on Nigeria’s deepening socio-political challenges.

In a viral video, Suleman rejected allegations that Adeboye took part in any form of political protest during the administrations of former President Goodluck Jonathan or President Bola Tinubu.

According to him, the event in question was not a protest but a spiritual assignment organized under the direction of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN).

“There are some people who are attacking Daddy G.O that he protested under Jonathan, he’s not protesting under Tinubu,” he said, insisting the clergy acted based on a unified religious directive.

He explained that church leaders participated in what was essentially a coordinated prayer exercise, not a political demonstration.

“It was PFN that issued that all preachers, all pastors should go for a prayer walk… it was not protest, he said we should go for a prayer walk,” Suleman stated.

He maintained that Adeboye’s actions were consistent with the leadership structure of the Christian body, adding that senior pastors still operate under denominational and fellowship guidelines regardless of their stature.

“He’s under the PFN… he took his placard and said ‘All lives matter’ and went around and went for that prayer walk,” he added.

Responding to critics who believe Adeboye should be more outspoken or involved in protests, Suleman questioned such expectations, especially considering the cleric’s age.

“You said a man of 84 years should come and protest. Something is wrong with your head,” he said.

He further emphasized that decisions taken within PFN are collective and binding on member ministers, not individual choices.

Suleman also addressed claims that senior religious leaders are silent on national issues, arguing that their contributions are often misunderstood or misrepresented.

“If he is in support, why has he not called me? If he’s in support, why has he not called me to talk?” he said.

Reiterating his own stance on governance, Suleman noted that he has consistently spoken against successive administrations.

“I spoke against Jonathan, I spoke against Buhari, I’ve been speaking against… from Babangida,” he stated.

The cleric used the opportunity to highlight Nigeria’s worsening hardship, describing the current situation as dire.

“Nigerians always look for who to blame and they always blame the wrong people. That’s the problem,” he said.

He added, “It has never been this bad… in those days we would struggle for food, now we are seeing our life.”

Criticizing the government further, Suleman described the leadership as ineffective, saying, “This government… it’s a deaf and dumb government. They are deaf and dumb.”

He concluded by urging Nigerians to focus less on individual blame and more on systemic governance failures, insisting that responsibility lies within the structure of leadership rather than isolated personalities.
