…Denies plan to dump APM

Governor Bala Mohammed has dismissed reports linking him with plans to defect from the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, to become the running mate of former President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2027 general elections.

Mohammed’s reaction followed claims circulating on social media that he was being considered as Jonathan’s vice-presidential candidate under a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The speculation gained traction after a faction of the PDP led by Kabiru Turaki on Saturday announced Jonathan as its presidential candidate for the 2027 election.

Jonathan was ratified as the faction’s flag bearer at a special national convention held in Abuja. Although the former president was absent at the event, his certificate of return was received on his behalf by Fred Agbedi.

Reacting to a post by Nuhu Sada, on X, which suggested that reports were linking him with a vice-presidential slot alongside Jonathan, Mohammed described such claims as false and speculative.

The Bauchi governor said his political focus remains on contesting the Bauchi South Senatorial District seat in 2027 on the platform of the APM.

“Thank you for your interest in my political aspirations. However, for the sake of clarity, my focus remains firmly on contesting for the Bauchi South Senatorial District seat under the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM),” Mohammed stated.

He urged the public to disregard reports suggesting otherwise, insisting that he has no plans to abandon his current political ambition.

“Any reports suggesting a different political course should be disregarded as speculative and inaccurate,” the governor added.

Mohammed’s clarification comes amid increasing political realignments and speculations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
