Justice D.I. Dipeolu of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, has postponed ruling on the bail application filed by social media personality and relationship coach, Okoro Blessing Nkiruka, popularly known as Blessing CEO.

Key Highlights:

  • Blessing CEO is seeking bail in an alleged N36 million fraud case.
  • Economic and Financial Crimes Commission accused her of obtaining money under false pretences and stealing.
  • The defence argued she is willing to stand trial and should be granted bail.
  • The prosecution opposed the request and urged caution.
  • The court adjourned ruling on the bail application until June 9, 2026.

The court adjourned the matter until June 9, 2026, when it will determine whether the defendant should be granted bail pending the conclusion of her trial.

Blessing CEO is facing prosecution by the Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over allegations of obtaining money under false pretences and stealing. The anti-graft agency claims the offences involve a total sum of N36 million.

During Friday’s proceedings, counsel to the defendant urged the court to grant bail on favourable terms, arguing that she is prepared to face trial and poses no risk of obstructing the judicial process. The defence further maintained that the allegations remain unproven and that the defendant is entitled to the presumption of innocence.

The prosecution, however, opposed the application, asking the court to carefully consider the facts and circumstances surrounding the case before making a decision on the bail request.

After hearing arguments from both sides, Justice Dipeolu reserved ruling on the application and fixed June 9 for its delivery.

The case has generated considerable public interest due to Blessing CEO’s high profile on social media, where she has built a large following through relationship counselling, lifestyle content and commentary on social issues.

According to the EFCC, the defendant allegedly obtained and misappropriated N36 million, an allegation that remains before the court for determination.

The outcome of the pending bail application will decide whether she remains in custody or is temporarily released while trial proceedings continue.

The substantive hearing is expected to proceed after the court delivers its ruling on the bail application.
