Nairobi, Kenya: The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has revoked the operating licence of Nicco Movers 1 Sacco as investigations into the mysterious death of Eugene Mutuku intensify, and most Kenyans are pleased with the move.

Only last week, a Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Yatta campus student, Eugene Mutuku, was thrown out of a matatu, and he sadly died.

NTSA revoked Nicco Movers 1 Sacco’s licence after a damning probe linked to the death of KMTC student Eugene Mutuku found out that the Sacco had lost control of its fleet, ignored safety protocols, as well as posed a danger to road users.

“For these reasons, the Authority has resolved to revoke Nicco Movers 1 Sacco’s operator licence and to cease operation with immediate effect,” NTSA stated.

What happened to the crew of the Nicco matatu

A Makadara court has released managers Wines Mugire and Alex Kabuthi from Nicco Sacoo on KSh 1 million bond each after they denied hiding critical evidence in the case of Eugene Mutuku, who was thrown out of their matatus.

Mutuku, a Kenyan Medical Training College (KMTC) student, was sadly thrown out of a matatu while en route to a hospital in Kasarani, where he was on attachment, after he lacked KSh 20 to add to his fare.

The two were accused of hiding a rogue crew and chose to protect their business over a dying teenager’s life, and because of the heavy charges, the two, who were not given an option of a cash bail, will remain in custody until they can pay the money and also meet all other requirements from the court.

On Saturday, June 13, Roy Mugusia said he reached out and told TUKO. co. ke that despite the sacco getting a suspension, he had seen several of their matatus.

“We have seen some, and it is business as usual for the, we are just waiting for them to arrive at Mlango and ask them,” he complained.

How did Kenyans react to the story?

Jacob Murungu:

“Nicco is among the best transporters…I wonder what happend in that situation.”

Byron Kembero

“They have revoked Nicco movers 1 above I’m seeing Nicco movers that 1 is every essential somewhere.”

What killed Eugene Mutuku?

Another story revealed that Mutuku died of blunt force trauma to his leg and pelvic bone, which caused overbleeding inside his body and not head injuries.

Many people have speculated that the KMTC lad died from head injuries because he was thrown from the matatu, but it turned out that the matatu actually running over him caused his death.
