Residents of Riamute village in Githunguri, Kiambu County, have been left in shock following a heartbreaking incident in which a man is alleged to have died after killing his wife and young son.

According to his grieving family, the tragic events are believed to be linked to unresolved trauma from a past road accident.
Kamau left behind note
The man, identified by locals as Kennedy Kamau Kabaiko, is said to have been found dead alongside his wife and their two-year-old child on the morning of Wednesday, June 10.

Their deaths brought a sudden and devastating end to what neighbours describe as a troubled household.
Kamau left behind a handwritten three-page note in which he reflected on the struggles he had endured since a tragic motorcycle accident in April 2024 along Thika Road.
The crash, he wrote, involved him and his brother Kabiru. While he survived with injuries, his brother lost his life.
Why Kamau gave up on life
In the aftermath of Kabiru’s death, Kamau reportedly described how his life became increasingly difficult, alleging that he was blamed by some family members for the incident.
He wrote that even Kabiru’s children often confronted him with painful accusations, deepening his emotional distress.
The note further suggested that he had considered seeking employment abroad in an attempt to rebuild his life and escape the psychological burden he was carrying.
However, he ultimately made a different and irreversible decision.

Moment Kamau, wife and child died
In the early hours of the morning, the tragedy unfolded in their home. Kamau is alleged to have fatally attacked his wife and child before dying shortly after.
The bodies were discovered later the same morning, prompting an immediate police response and the sealing off of the scene as investigations began.
In a disturbing post reportedly shared on WhatsApp shortly before his death, Kamau is said to have apologised and attached images, further indicating his state of mind in his final moments.
Residents who knew the family have described Kamau as a man who had become increasingly withdrawn and burdened by grief since the fatal road accident.
Authorities are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths, including the mental state of the deceased and the events leading up to the tragedy.
How Githunguri deaths were discovered
According to a police report seen by NgGossips, the incident was reported at Githunguri Police Station at around 9.30am by Irene Nyokabi, a resident and a relative of the deceased family.
