Man who sold family land to move to South Africa returns home empty-handed after 16 years

A middle-aged man is now homeless after he sold land to travel to South Africa 16 years ago, but he had to return home over violence related to immigration.

The man was among the hundreds who were evacuated back home after some of their countrymen were killed or injured due to Xenophobic attacks..

In a video circulating on social media, a witness claimed the man had invested heavily in his move to South Africa years ago.

“He sold family land to fund his trip to South Africa and stayed there for 16 years. He has now returned,”he said.

According to the witness, the recent unrest disrupted the man’s life and forced him to leave without bringing back any significant belongings or savings.

The emotional returnee got an opportunity to share his experience after arriving in Ghana, as concerns continue to mount over the safety of foreign nationals in parts of South Africa.

Woman loses son in alleged xenophobic violence

In a different story, a woman from Limpopo in South Africa was thrown into mourning after her son was allegedly killed in a xenophobic attack.

Patricia took to Facebook to mourn the death of her dear 19-year-old son Nhlamulo Sambo, who was sadly killed after being mistaken for a foreigner.

Nhlamulo was killed in Mossel Bay, mistaken for a foreigner due to his Tsonga ethnicity, and could not speak the local language of Khosa.
