The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), under the joint task force operation Hadin Kai, has eliminated 27 terrorists during separate air interdiction operations targeting insurgent enclaves in Borno state.

According to an operational report released on Sunday, the airstrikes were carried out following Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions that identified terrorist activities within the Southern and Northern Tumbus regions of the state.

The report disclosed that the first operation was conducted in the early hours of June 10 at Dawoshe, a known terrorist hideout in the Southern Tumbus area. Air assets, including Dragon and ISR platforms, reportedly engaged terrorist vehicles spotted during aerial surveillance.

Military authorities said the operation destroyed the vehicles and neutralised 12 terrorists during the strike.

On the same day, the air component launched another precision attack on terrorist positions in Metele, located in the Northern Tumbus area of Guzamala Local Government Area.

Post-strike assessments supported by intelligence sources confirmed that 15 additional terrorists were killed during the operation.

The military noted that the successful missions dealt a significant blow to terrorist elements operating around the Lake Chad fringes and other notorious hideouts within the Tumbus region.

It added that the operations were part of sustained efforts to degrade terrorist capabilities, disrupt logistics networks and deny insurgents freedom of movement across the North-East.

The Armed Forces reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining offensive operations against terrorist groups until peace and security are fully restored in the region.
