Faith Koskei was involved in a road accident while heading to her daughter’s school after receiving the distressing news that the institution was on fire.

Koskei’s motherly instinct kicked in when she heard the alarming report on Thursday, May 28, prompting her to rush to the school to check on her child’s safety.

During her burial, Faith’s husband, who was also in the vehicle during the accident but survived, attended the ceremony.

How many children did Faith Koskei have?

Emmanuel Koskei was wheeled to the venue as he continues to recover from injuries sustained in the crash, most notably to his right hand.

He tried to remain strong as he eulogised his wife, a mother of three whose life was tragically cut short while responding to a mother’s call to protect her child.

“A relationship of more than 23 years has just come to an end. My best friend, my confidant, my pillar, my bae, has left me. She was a pillar, as my sister-in-law put it. For me to be what I am today, for me to wake up every morning and go to work all those years, it was because of her.

She chose a path that I don’t think many educated graduate women would choose. From the time we had our firstborn, she told me, ‘I need no maid to take care of my kids.’ So all my children were raised by their mother, and it was her choice,” the lawyer said.

Emmanuel added that although they did not live a flashy lifestyle, no one could tell when the family was facing challenges because his wife was a wonder woman.

He said she always ensured there were no gaps in the family, covering every weakness and protecting the family’s dignity and reputation.

“I have released you; I have accepted to let you go. We were going to check on our daughter because of the distress call. I had planned to travel the following morning, but when I realised the school was only 40 minutes away, I decided to go immediately. Little did I know that would be our last journey together.

The children we had together, as I promised my father-in-law, I will take care of them for as long as I live. So be assured, wherever you are, that they will be happy,” he said.

Faith Koskei’s daughter speaks after surviving Utumishi fire tragedy

In another story, Faith’s daughter, who survived both the fire and the stampede, emotionally spoke about the tragedy.

Although her dormitory was not affected by the fire, she was caught up in the stampede as students scrambled for safety during the night.

She said the incident left her traumatised for life because it led to her mother’s death and serious injuries to her father, Emmanuel, who was among the occupants of the vehicle involved in the accident.
