A former deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kano State, Dr. Yusuf Bello Danbatta, has formally defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing the need to contribute more effectively to the development of the state and the nation.

Danbatta announced his defection in a statement on Saturday, saying the decision followed extensive consultations with political leaders, associates, supporters and other stakeholders.

The former PDP chieftain said he was convinced that the APC provides a more suitable platform for advancing the interests of the people and supporting ongoing development initiatives in Kano State.

According to him, his decision was largely influenced by the leadership of Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, and the administration’s “Kano First Agenda,” which he described as a clear roadmap for good governance, human capital development, infrastructure renewal and sustainable growth.

“I hereby formally announce my decision to join the All Progressives Congress (APC). This decision was taken after careful consideration and wide consultations with my leaders, political associates, supporters and stakeholders,” he stated.

Danbatta added that he was equally encouraged by what he described as the APC’s growing inclusiveness and commitment to the welfare of citizens.

He also pledged to work closely with APC members and other stakeholders in advancing the Kano First Agenda and supporting the continued development of the state.
