Justice Alexander Owoeye of a Federal High Court, Lagos, has granted the request of the Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU) Ikoyi Lagos, to declare a 45-year old businessman, Rolland Oluwasegun Elusoji, wanted over N1.2bn Fraud.

PSFU has charged the suspect and two others, Oladejo Funmilayo Grace and Abiola Oluwasegun, who are also currently at large, of committing conspiracy, obtaining the sum of N1,207, 000, 000, by false pretence and money laundering, in a charge marked FHC/L/593c/2025.

Specifically, the three defendants were alleged to have fraudulently obtained the sum from one Otunba Seye Famojuro under the pretence of purchasing a luxury vehicle and real estate property on his behalf.

He also stated that the alleged acts contravene Section 21(a) and are punishable under Section 18(2) of the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.

The trio allegedly committed the offences on November 30, 2024, but since the charge was filed sometimes in 2025, none of them have appeared in court to take their plea. Rather, Rolland Oluwasegun Elusoji, filed a fundamental rights enforcement suit which was dismissed for being frivolous and lacking in merit.

Following the dismissal of the rights enforcement suit, PSFU filed a motion Exparte before the court to declare the evasive suspect wanted.

Upon perusal of motion Exparte, accompanying processes and legal authorites cited, Justice Owoeye granted the arrested order on May 25, 2026.

In granting the order, Justice Owoeye held that: “upon reading through the Affidavit in Support of Complainant’s Motion Ex-parte for substituted service with the Exhibits attached therein, deposed to by Friday Shaibu (Inspr), Male, Adult, Christian, Nigerian Citizen of Police Special Fraud Unit, 13 Milverton Road, Ikoyi, Lagos State and filed at this Court Registry.

“And the court after careful Consideration of the application and submissions of Counsel,

it is hereby ordered as follows: ‘That an Order of this Honourable Court is hereby granted declaring the defendant/respondent herein wanted, for prosecution’.”

Justice Owoeye thereafter adjourned the matter to October 29, 2026, for report of  compliance.

It would be recalled that the judge had sometimes in February 18, 2026, issued a Bench Warrant against the alleged fraud suspect.

In Bench the warrant, the judge had ordered the police and other security agencies to arrest the defendant anywhere he may be found.
