Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has presented Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat and Princess Damilola Sonayon-James to President Bola Tinubu in Abuja.

After the presentation, Sanwo-Olu said: “The true test of sustainable governance is the ability to pass the baton to proven hands, guided by minds that see the future clearly”.

“Today, I present a ticket that reflects the strength, diversity, and future of our great state.”

Describing the deputy governor, Sanwo-Olu said: “Dr. Obafemi Hamzat has proven himself to be a dedicated public servant, a dependable partner in governance and a steadfast advocate for progress”.

On the choice of running mate, the governor said: “Joining him as his running mate is Princess Damilola Sonayon-James, a respected leader, sustainability professional, and grassroots champion whose commitment to community development and youth empowerment reflects the aspirations of many Lagosians.”

“Together, they bring the experience, competence, and energy needed to build on our achievements and move Lagos forward,” Sanwo-Olu stated.

The governor also addressed party members and residents: “As we prepare for the forthcoming gubernatorial election, I invite party faithful, stakeholders, and all Lagosians to support this team as we continue our shared mission of building a Greater Lagos”.

Dr. Obafemi Hamzat is the current Deputy Governor of Lagos State. Princess Damilola Sonayon-James was presented as his running mate. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has set the timetable for gubernatorial elections in Nigeria and political parties, having done their primary election, are gradually picking running mates for their candidates.
