Utumishi Girls fire: Pastor, family grieve Form 4 daughter who died in tragedy

Parents of Utumishi Girls Academy students who perished in the horrific fire incident are still struggling to come to terms with the tragedy.

The families of the affected students continue to live in shock and grief as they try to navigate the devastating loss that claimed the lives of 16 learners.

A pastor from Ewuaso Kedong, Kajiado county, is among the parents who lost their daughters in the dormitory fire.

Veteran politician Hassan Ole Sekento visited his friend, Bishop Joseph Matura, who lost his Form Four daughter, Naisula, in the tragedy.

“In the evening, I joined the family of my friend Bishop Joseph Matura to offer my heartfelt condolences following the tragic loss of their beloved daughter in the Utumishi Girls Academy fire yesterday. I pray that God grants you the strength, courage, and peace to navigate this devastating loss. May the beautiful memories you shared with your child bring you comfort in the days to come. My condolences to you, The Family Chapel Ministries, and the Ewuaso community at large,” he wrote.

Sekento shared emotional photos as he comforted the grieving family, who were trying to remain composed amid their pain.

He was accompanied by other mourners who visited the family to show support and offer comfort during the difficult time.

Douglas Kulei, a friend of the Matura family, also expressed his grief online following the loss of the young student.

“I woke up this morning to the very sad news that the lovely daughter of my dear brethren and colleagues in the vineyard, Bishop and Mrs. Joseph Matura, was among the victims of the Utumishi Girls fire tragedy. This has hit me so deeply. We are a family that has shared so much together, and I still cannot believe it. I truly cannot believe it. May the God we have faithfully served together comfort and strengthen you now and forever. Our prayers are with you during this painful season. Rest in peace, our lovely daughter.”

Kenyans console Bishop Joseph Matura

Social media users flocked to the comment section to console the family while condemning the incident that left 79 learners injured.

Brenny Reins:

“What I wonder is why the doors were locked while the students were sleeping. My question is, what were they trying to prevent that had never happened before?”

Essianto Sidai:

“It’s very painful to believe this news. May her soul rest in peace. May God comfort the family during this difficult time.”

Muntolol Ololmayiani:

Elder Moses K Kuyioni:

“My condolences to the family members, neighbours, friends, and the entire church family. May her soul rest in peace. Pole sana, my lovely Daddy, for the loss of my lovely sister.”

Amos Kiaki:

“Sad. May her soul rest in peace. To the parents, may the Lord comfort them, help them accept the loss, and overcome the pain.”

James Teekah James Ntunuku:

“Only God can heal this kind of pain and sorrow. May God intervene and bring comfort to the family.”

Pastor Anyanga from House of Transformation Nakuru told NgGossips that ministers of God grieved like any other human being.

“A loss is a loss, and we grieve for our loved ones without holding back. The only joy and hope is one day to reunite with our loved ones if they died in the Lord. I sympathise with the pastor and every other parent who lost their daughter in the fire incident. Only God can comfort them because it is only He who knows their pain,” he said.

Parents reunite with Utumishi Girls’ fire survivors

In another story, survivors of the fire reunited with their parents at the school compound, with tears of both relief and grief flowing freely.

The learners and their parents could be seen embracing one another, expressing love and gratitude after the tragedy that shook the nation.
