A Kenyan woman has shared photos of her young cousin who died in the Utumishi Girls Academy fire, leaving many in tears.

A total number of 16 students lost their lives, and 74 others were hospitalised with injuries. Fire razed down Meline Waithera dormitory, which housed around 220 students among them students from Grade 10, Form Three and Form Four.
The Kenyan lady, identified as Squishey on TikTok, left Kenyans online shattered after her moving tribute to her cousin.
“Too soon, cousin 😭. Heaven gained a beautiful soul,” she captioned the photos below.

Did students set Utumishi Girls dorm on fire?
NgGossips reported that detectives were investigating claims that the deadly Utumishi Girls Academy fire may have been deliberately started by students.
At least 30 girls have reportedly been detained for questioning as investigators pursue new leads surrounding the midnight blaze.
According to NTV, several students had reportedly been ordered to report back to school for questioning as investigations continued.
“The police have already communicated to the parents, and we expect the number may rise further as authorities continue gathering more information on what happened here,” NTV reported.
