Members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) who are card-carrying members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency II on Tuesday in Ejigbo resolved to vote President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and frontline House of Representatives aspirant, Kehinde Bamigbetan, at the forthcoming APC primaries ahead of the 2027 elections.
The promise was made to Bamigbetan during a meeting with members of the NURTW Branches B and D, Ejigbo/Isolo, Lagos.
The branches are under the leadership of Comrade Alhaji Bashir Olufemi Olowu and Alhaji Nurudeen Oladejobi.
Bamigbetan promised them a bus ownership scheme in partnership with the Consumer Credit Corporation established by President Bola Tinubu.
He also pledged to revive the grants scheme for co-operatives for the wives of transport workers to run small businesses.
The interactive session commenced with an opening prayer, followed by warm opening remarks by Olowu, who formally introduced Hon. Bamigbetan.
He highlighted the purpose of the visit, urging members to listen attentively to and assess the vision of the seasoned journalist, who is fondly called KOK.
He expressed strong confidence in Bamigbetan as “the people’s choice,” encouraging the union to consider aligning with him.
Bamigbetan expressed profound gratitude to the leadership and entire executive council for the opportunity to engage with the union.
He introduced himself as a dedicated political disciple of President Tinubu and a long-time resident of Ejigbo.
Recounting his deep roots in the community, he highlighted key interventions dating back to 2003 when he served as Deputy Chief Press Secretary to then Governor Bola Tinubu.
He played a pivotal role in facilitating the reconstruction of the dilapidated Idimu Road and in effectively channelling erosion into the Ilufunmi canal.
These projects, Bamigbetan noted, transformed the area and restored property values.
He paid tribute to Oba Morufu Adisa Adekunle Ojoola, who nominated him for the Chairmanship of Ejigbo LCDA.
As Chairman, Bamigbetan launched the impactful Vision 3×3 agenda, which delivered tangible dividends to residents.
Key initiatives included the provision of free school uniforms, desks and benches, and nutritious meals for primary school children on Mondays, produced by local tailors, carpenters, and bakers.
His administration also built Asiwaju Bola Tinubu Primary School in Ageke, Oladele Alake Primary School, and sponsored students for the Joint Matriculation Examinations and the General Certificate of Education.
He said he ran a worker- and artisan-friendly government that supported bricklayers and welders in building 182 culverts by Ejigbo bricklayers to boost the local economy.
In their responses, union members overwhelmingly endorsed Hon. Bamigbetan, with many affectionately referring to him as “Mr Talk and Do.”
They testified to his integrity and to his past support for the union, particularly during his tenure as LCDA Chairman, when he empowered members through revenue-collection roles.
