Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, a leading governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, has dismissed reports claiming he was disqualified or had withdrawn from the race.

The lawmaker, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, described the claims as false and misleading, stressing that he remains fully in the contest for the party’s governorship ticket.

“I was neither disqualified nor did I withdraw from the race,” Alli stated, reaffirming his commitment to participate in the APC governorship primary election.

He noted that he successfully underwent the party’s screening exercise held in Abuja earlier this month and is fully cleared to contest.

Alli also declared his readiness to emerge as the APC flagbearer ahead of the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence in his chances at the primary scheduled for Thursday, May 21, 2026, across Oyo State.

The senator called on his supporters and party members to come out en masse and participate peacefully in the exercise.

He further expressed optimism that delegates and stakeholders would consider him worthy of flying the party’s flag, while pledging to accept the outcome of the primary in good faith if it does not go in his favour.

Alli emphasized his commitment to party unity and democratic principles, noting that sportsmanship remains a core value of his political journey.
