The All Progressives Congress has cleared several aspirants to contest its senatorial primaries in Cross River State following a screening exercise conducted by the party’s National Organising Secretary.

Announcing the outcome in a statement made available to NGGOSSIPS Online on Monday, the National Organising Secretary said the exercise was carried out to ensure compliance with party guidelines and to allow only qualified aspirants to proceed to the primaries.

“We have completed the screening of aspirants across the senatorial districts and only those who met the requirements have been cleared to participate in the primaries,” NOS said.

In the Cross River Central Senatorial District, a key contest has emerged between the immediate past Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Oden Ewa, and the incumbent senator, Eteng Jonah Williams, who is seeking a third term in the Senate.

Party insiders describe the race as one of the most competitive in the state, with both aspirants enjoying strong backing within different blocs of the party.

In the northern senatorial district, the screening also cleared Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe alongside other aspirants, setting the stage for another round of internal competition.

For Cross River South, former aspirant Asuquo Ekpenyoung was also among those approved to advance to the primaries.

Others cleared by NOS for the primaries include; Adans Cecilia Omoniya, Dr Johna Onyi Agba, and Mary Ogoba Ekpere Eta (North).
