The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, has warned that aspirants who disrupt the party’s forthcoming primaries or engage in acts capable of undermining the process would face disciplinary action, including possible suspension.

Mr Yilwatda issued the warning while addressing aspirants who recently underwent screening conducted by various party committees.

In a statement released by his media aide, Abimbola Tooki, the APC chairman cautioned aspirants and their supporters against instigating violence, sponsoring unrest, engaging in anti-party activities, or attempting to compromise the integrity of the primaries.

He urged all aspirants seeking elective offices on the platform of the APC to conduct themselves with discipline, maturity and statesmanship ahead of the nationwide primaries.

According to him, the ruling party remains committed to conducting transparent, peaceful, credible and democratic primaries that would strengthen internal democracy and further boost public confidence in the party.

Mr Yilwatda said the APC had built a strong democratic reputation over the years and would not allow individual ambitions to override the collective interest of the party.

He reminded aspirants that every contest would produce winners and losers, stressing that democracy thrives on healthy competition, mutual respect and acceptance of outcomes.

“In every democratic contest, only one person will eventually emerge victorious. What is important is the spirit with which the process is approached,” he said.

“I urge all aspirants to display maturity, patriotism and good sportsmanship by embracing the outcome of the primaries in the overall interest of the party and our democracy.”

The APC chairman also urged aspirants to see themselves as ambassadors of the party and to avoid actions capable of creating division or overheating the political atmosphere.

He commended President Bola Tinubu for what he described as efforts aimed at strengthening democratic institutions and consolidating internal party processes.

According to Mr Yilwatda, the Tinubu administration has embarked on bold reforms targeted at economic growth, stability and national development despite prevailing challenges.

He listed investments in road infrastructure, rail transportation, agriculture, energy and support for small businesses among the achievements of the administration.

The APC chairman further called on party stakeholders to align with the president’s Renewed Hope agenda and work towards sustaining unity within the party.
