  • There was serious tension in Owode Onirin, Lagos, after the proprietor of Trainsfield College was allegedly accused of disappearing with students’ WAEC registration fees.
  • The incident reportedly left several students stranded and unable to sit for their examinations, sparking outrage online.

Residents of Owode Onirin area of Lagos State were thrown into confusion after reports emerged that the proprietor of Trainsfield College allegedly disappeared with WAEC registration fees paid by students.

According to reports circulating online, each student allegedly paid ₦80,000 for their WAEC registration, only for the school management to reportedly fail to process the examination registration before the exams commenced.

The development has since sparked outrage on social media, with many Nigerians expressing sympathy for the affected students and parents.

Reacting to the incident, X user @TheIshaqq wrote:

“Imagine paying ₦80k for WAEC only for the proprietor to perform ‘rapture’ before exams start. At this point some private schools are just legalized betting companies.”

Another user, @_seun_19, claimed a similar incident had happened in Ogun State years ago.

“Happened here in Ota 4yrs ago.. Micbay proprietor.”

While many accused the school proprietor directly, some users argued that the issue could have involved other members of the school management.

@krossmediang commented:

“It can’t be the proprietor. A lot of head teachers always do this. I know the proprietor and am very sure they would not do this. But the bulk stops at the proprietors table to provide who is responsible.”

Another user, @Firstus_, alleged that the proprietor may have fled the country.

“Baba don japa to one African country, pending wen hin visa to yankee go ready.”

Expressing frustration, @alabi_daniel wrote:

“How can someone be this wicked!? I am short of words….”

Others blamed the situation on the growing desperation for wealth in society.

@BRNALARICK stated:

“A society that worships wealth unconsciously trains people to chase shortcuts.”
