Unlike many others, this uncertainty was not a problem for one college graduate whose life after campus was sorted even before he completed his studies.

Charles Lemezi, a graduate of Tandala Teachers College, does not need to worry about employment after graduation, after securing a job before the ceremony.

Charles opening up about applying for job

His worries about finding employment after completing his studies were solved early when the government offered him a teaching position while he was preparing for his final exams.

“I applied for a job. Right now, for one to get a teaching job, you must apply, so I submitted my application through the government portal. I was preparing for my final exam when, on Tuesday, I received a job letter informing me that I had been assigned a teaching position,” he said.

He expressed gratitude to the government for considering him and offering him a job even before he sat for his final exam and graduated.

Charles highlighted the major challenge facing many young people today, especially after graduating, which is unemployment.

How long has Charles studied at the university?

“Our biggest challenge as young people today is employment. Many of us are educated, but we do not have jobs. I thank God for what I have achieved, and I also ask the government to consider other young people like me who struggle to find jobs. Many young people end up engaging in activities that undermine Tanzanian values because of unemployment,” he added.

Charles explained that after applying for the teaching job, he was invited for the first interview, which involved a written test, followed by an oral interview.

He was overjoyed after passing the interviews, noting that even if he had succeeded in the interviews without receiving a job offer, he would still have remained unemployed.

“I feel very happy because I have studied for two years and I am completing my studies on a high note, with both a graduation ceremony and a job offer,” he said.

College principal applauds graduates

Vedasto Kibyala, the principal of the college, praised the graduates and applauded them for their hard work and dedication in their studies.

He noted that they were well-prepared, skilled, and disciplined teachers who would undoubtedly make a positive impact in society through their expertise.

“They are the first group of teachers trained under the improved curriculum. It focuses on producing skilled teachers who are well prepared and able to handle large classes. Today, a teacher must be equipped with technological and scientific knowledge to excel in the profession, and I believe they have what it takes to succeed.
