The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, has paid strategic familiarization visits to the Ogun State commands of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) as part of efforts to strengthen inter-agency cooperation and improve security management across the state.
During the visits, the police commissioner emphasized the importance of collaboration, intelligence sharing, and coordinated operations among security and public safety agencies in addressing modern security challenges and maintaining peace in Ogun State.
At the FRSC Ogun State Command, CP Ojajuni was received by the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi, alongside senior officers of the corps. Discussions focused on improving cooperation in traffic control, highway patrol operations, accident prevention, emergency response, and public safety campaigns.
The police commissioner commended the FRSC for its professionalism and commitment to reducing road accidents and promoting safer highways across the state.
He also praised the FRSC Special Marshal Initiative, describing it as an effective community-based partnership similar to the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC). According to him, the initiative has helped strengthen civic responsibility, community participation, and support for traffic management and public order.
At the Nigerian Correctional Service headquarters in Ogun State, CP Ojajuni was received by the Controller of Corrections, Abioye Kamoru Adesina. Their discussions centered on strengthening cooperation within the criminal justice system, improving custodial security, inmate management, and rehabilitation programmes.
The commissioner applauded the ongoing reforms within the correctional service, especially efforts in inmate education, vocational training, behavioural reformation, and rehabilitation programmes designed to help inmates become productive members of society after release.
He described the reforms as progressive and important in reducing repeat offences, noting that rehabilitation remains a key part of sustainable public safety and social stability.
As part of the visits, CP Ojajuni presented copies of The New Dawn, the official newspaper of the Nigeria Police Force, to the heads of both agencies to further promote information sharing and institutional relationships.
The police commissioner appreciated the leadership and personnel of the FRSC and NCoS for their dedication to public safety and national security, stressing that effective policing can only be achieved through strong partnerships and mutual support among relevant agencies.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Ogun State Police Command to sustaining productive collaborations aimed at protecting lives and property and ensuring lasting peace and security across the state.
